(quoting from Jen with Caravan Studio)
We will be posting a volunteer form eventually, but we haven't gotten
that far yet.

We will need all sorts of help, starting with driver's (this would
entail picking instructors up at the airport and taking them to their
hotel, etc. and taking instructors back to the airport after the
festival ends or driving them to and from events during the festival).
Workshop check-in people, perhaps working with our stage crew setting up
the performance stage, etc., ticket takers, retail, show assistants, the
list goes on, we will post an official list on our website soon. If you
are interested in anything I have mentioned here, let me know and I will
make sure to put your name down for that particular task.

Thank you so much for your offer to volunteer, we always need all the
help we can get to make these events run smoothly.
(end quote)

I emailed back requesting permission to post her reply... she said
(quoting again, obviously)

sure, go ahead and post the info, but be sure to link my email address

I am in Akron and I am not totally impressed with the one belly dance place I have taken lessons at. there is a long lag time between classes and she starts over the basics and nothing much inbetween for me, plus I do not think I will have time to schedule in an evening class.

Are there any good belly dancing Videos or DVD's that anyone would recommend? Or a Sunday class in north east ohio? Can a person learn anything by learning from videos and DVD's?

I really liked practicing on my own but want to move forward until i can take another class.

Thanks,

I'm Aurelia and I'm starting this tribe to keep friends and others informed about the BellyCon event my troupe and I are sponsoring in Dayton Ohio. The first one will be August 12 - 14, 2005.
We're in the process of securing the venue and instructors as well as fundraising to get our deposit and plane faire for traveling instructors.
It will consist of three days, 8 workshops, 8 different instructors, a hafla and a dinner and performance with social hour to follow. We will have lots of vending as well.

We hope to have the venue and instructors finalized by Jan. 31 and open registrations in February. We will allow either a 50% down and 50% due at a certain date OR you could pay in thirds. Specific dates will be announced.

We will allow troupes of 3 or more to receive a 20% discount when registering under a troupe name and paying together.

We will announce pricing schedule and other relevant information here as well as on our website, which is in the works at this moment!

This tribe is not exclusively for the convention, please feel free to share anything bellydance related as well.

I'd also love to see a thread for trading and selling. List your ebay auctions too. We certainly will. All auctions and sales are going to help pay for the event and we will be donating a portion of our proceeds to 1 animal and 1 human charity to be determined.

thanks,
